We took a 6-day road trip in early September through the German state of Bavaria. It started with views from the highest peak in Germany and a ‘gorge’ous hike before settling in the town of Füssen where we marveled at the infamous inspiration for Walt Disney’s Cinderella Castle. We continued north visiting century-old monastery breweries and the Bavarian town of Nördlingen before eventually arriving to enjoy the beautiful oddities and deliciousness of Rothenburg. Our beer-ventures included more monastery breweries on the way to Bamberg where we devoured more views, food, and their famous smoky beer. We eventually arrived in Munich to appreciate its architecture, culture, and of course more food & beer. Although we were too early for Oktoberfest, we wouldn’t have changed a thing. Coming earlier to avoid the crowds gave us an opportunity to enjoy the beauty and deliciousness this fantastic state has to offer.
